JORDAN GIBB

Jordan is a professional golfer based in Benijofar, Spain. Having grown up in Kent playing top level amateur golf in England he travelled to America to study at the University of North Florida on a golf scholarship. While there, he competed in the best tournaments in college golf including the NCAA National Championships. Having enjoyed success at the highest level of amateur golf, he made the decison to turn pro in August 2010.

In 2011, Jordan will be competing across Europe on the Alps Tour aiming to earn a place on the Challenge Tour.

We have a great article for you to read about Jordan Gibb, please CLICK HERE to read the full article.

Jordan Gibb1. Jordan Gibb face on set up.  This shows a good solid set up with the ball position left of centre and under the left eye.

This allows a through stroke to encourage a more effective ball roll which is leaving the club face with top spin.

2. Jordan Gibb down the line set up.  Jordan here is solid and has his eyes over the ball.

The angle of the putter shaft and the forearms allow a continual one piece and preventing too many angles being overly active.

1. JG1SAM shows a very good alignment and impact but Jordan was complaining that the ball roll was not effective and that he didn’t have desired control.

Examining the SAM data and video alerted Glenn to the fact that the ball position had been affected by Jordan’s weight shift.  Jordan was firmer to the floor with his left foot thus taking him out of position and hitting down into the ball.

2. JG2SAM shows what happens by altering the ball position by Jordan putting a fraction more weight on his right foot, actually, he had a solid 50/50 set up now.

Friday 2nd September 2011 i met with Jordan again at the academy.  Time for reflection on how he has been putting and getting some ‘mental’ feedback and how he feels he is performing and how our team work can get him onto the winner’s podium.

Jordan is progressing very well with his putting and he is beginning to feel comfortable at set up.  During our assessment i noticed that his position over the ball was unbalanced in that his weight was a little on his left side and his head position to far over the ball, a position too much under his nose rather than his left eye.

The effect this would have is altering the ball position and thus interfering with his putter path.  Also, his feet were open to the target but his thighs were closed.  Balance and posture issue.

We worked on it and identified that his core was not central, caused by a lack of steadiness during the stroke.  Two expressions i used to Jordan were ‘feel like you’re riding a horse’ or ‘like you’re skiing’.  The natural effect was for him to close his knees closer together.  He instantly said that his posture altered and was stronger.  This altered his knees alignment and straightened them towards the target.  Also it affected his back and made his hips and mid area more stable.  A massive alteration in one movement.

We spent time using video and the SAM lab and noticed a great difference in timing, impact and the path of the putter.  He was previously an in to out putter but now his path is a slight ‘in to square to in’ – a true natural path and one that will enable a fantastic ball roll.

We were both very happy with the work and discussed the affects this will have.  Strange and impressive that he did say how similar a putting set up is in relation to a full swing set up.  He indicated that the strength he feels over the ball now at putting will be used in his approach to the full swing.  On the range later it was certainly evident.

A great day Jordan, good work and good luck in the tournament on Monday in Alicante.  I’ll be there to keep an eye on you!
