Excellent score by Carlos Aguilar last week in La Marquesa, seven under to win. Good result Dani Alonso, came second! Well done my lads!!

GECKO PRO TOUR REMINDER

A reminder please to all my professional and amateur friends. April is fast approaching. The team at the Gecko pro tour have two fantastic tournaments so check out their web site on www.geckoprotour.com or contact me via email or facebook for information.

George WoolgarWell done to George Woolgar

A great weeks work in two tournaments. Finishing 5th and 6th in the Ecco events at La Manga.

A very strong field and George played some excellent golf. Great start to your season George.

As you can see from George’s photo his set up is extremely solid and strong and is beginning to show he is able to trust his stroke and let it happen. Congratulations to a quality player and friend...

Honoured by Spanish Golf Federation

I am honoured to be officially associated with the Valencia Golf federation and looking forward to the first weekend working concentration Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th March. Looking forward to meeting you all, some i already know and hope you are up to the high standards we set. Take a look at the link for the information. Some great news for me - just been added to the Spanish Golf Federation Web site and off to Valencia for a weekend of hard work!

Gecko Tour & Glenn

‘I am pleased to announce that decisions have been made during my visit to Marbella. I will be teaming up with the Gecko Pro Tour and form an elite academy for up and coming professional players. Will be operating from the fantastic Marbella Golf & Country Club where a new putting studio is to be assembled. This is great news for me personally and i thank all then team for their hard work and commitment. We will be adding news on a regular occasion with further reports’

MLA & the European Tour

I had the privilege to spend the day at Aloha Golf Course in Marbella Wednesday 14th March, practice day. Working with MLA putters we were there to demonstrate how great the new putters are. I had the chance to catch up with some friends and players Bradley Dredge, Jose Manuel Lara and Matthew Southgate – good luck to them all for the season.

Science and Motion – Sam Putt Lab

Another addition to my coaching is the partnership with Science & Motion who invented the fantastic SAM putt lab. This is the best piece of kit on the market to help me in the diagnosis of my players putting stroke. It was invented by a scientist - Dr Christian Marquardt from Germany who now advises many coaches and players from around the world. I am proud to be one of the team and an accredited member.

Valencia Golf Federation of Spain.

At the recent awards presentation for the Valencia Golf Federation several of my professional players received awards. So well done to Jordan Gibb, Liam Murray, Dani Alonso and Diego Torne. Well done lads, keep up the good work. You have pictures of the lads already on the web site.

Valencia Golf Federation

I have been in talks with the Valencia Golf Federation as to how we can improve the putting of the players from the region. I have been invited to become an advisor and coach within the Valencia Federation and the first training session is to be the 24th and 25th March in Valencia. I am really looking forward to meeting the players and getting to know their putting strokes.

Shaun’s Austrian Group

On the 24th February we saw the arrival of Shaun Cunningham and his team from Austria. Shaun is a pro at a top golf course in Austria and a good bloke. There were seven amateurs with him. All of them had the fortune or misfortune to spend a two hours each with me for a putting lesson they will never forget. Well done to you all. Thank you Franzi, Mathias, ‘Doctor golf’ Axel, Christoph, Peter, Arthur and Walter. Hopefully the plans will come off and i’ll see you in Austria soon. Keep up the great work!

Gecko Pro Tour Event in Spain.

Down at Gecko Pro Tour Event in Malaga last week. Met up with Paul Netherton who runs the new tour on the Costa Del Sol. He and his team are doing a great job and have a really good following. Top class players are entering and putting in some good score. Also great to meet up with Nick Lane, top bloke and someone i suggest you do not argue with. If you are interested in learning more about the tour contact me or speak directly to Paul on www.geckoprotour.com – Thanks Paul and i look forward to a great working relationship. See you on the 11th March at Marbella Country Club.

Equipment

While there i was armed with my ‘Eyes’, Video/Camera and the SAM putt lab. It is important that i can show players exactly what they are doing and how to make sure they understand more.

SAM putt lab is a great piece of equipment and if you are serious about your game then please try it out. There is nothing like it and nothing to compare. I am lucky enough to be meeting with the inventor Christian Marquardt from the German company ‘Science and Motion’ on Thursday in Majorca to get up to date with training. I am to be their representative on the ladies tour this season and be an advanced trainer. If anyone would like to see any information then please see the attached record from Jordan Gibb – i know he will be ok with me showing how good he is J – if you need to see what they can do then visit the web site www.scienceandmotion.com

Liam Murray from England/Spain

While in Malaga had the opportunity to make sure Liam Murray was putting well. He struggled on the first day and after a few moments we had his set up and grip sorted. The two photos will show how Liam lapsed into the grip of the putter being in his fingers and was causing him to Pull the ball left of the target – he was actually adding ‘hook spin’ to the ball. A great second round 4 under – best of the day was the result.

Tom Coulson from England

Also met up with Tom Coulson. Tom moved across to Spain a few months ago and is a great golfer and hits the balls miles. Unfortunately, he had problems with his putting but we’ve sorted it. The two photos show how he managed to get to a bad habit on sitting too far behind the ball. A slight alteration as you can see in photo two, now shows Tom in a central more solid set up. Means he is now hitting the ball out of the centre and able to add a great ball roll. Well Done pal.

Ladies Banesto Pro Tour of Spain

Fortunately for me the ladies Banesto tour was at the same golf club a day after the Gecko tour, so, killed two birds with one stone. Introduced myself and then met a few of the girls around the green. Able to catch up with Rhian Wyn Thomas to make sure she is ok? Really happy with her putting she replied, like to hear that and it showed!

Giulia Franchini from Italy

While there met with Giulia Franchini who i met at Q school at La Manga three years ago. She has decided to go back into playing more events. We worked on her set and approach to putting. Yes, putting is mental but you have to have the ability to aim and set up correctly. Well Giulia and good luck.

Barbara Genuini from France

Barbara was also there, after successfully gaining her Ladies tour card she decided to come to Malaga in preparation for the tour. She and i worked together at Q school in December. She is putting well but we had to make a couple of adjustments to make sure things were right. Well done Barbara, see you at Zaragoza later in the month.

Monia Bernardo from Portugal

This is my first time to meet Monia but she is a good putter and we did a little work to establish understanding of the fundamentals. Her pace was a little slow so we developed a plan to make it more consistent. Well done Monia, good work and see you soon.

Allianz Pro Golf Tour

well done to the lads who went to Q school for the Allianz tour. Excellent work and congratulations to Dani Alonso and Carlos Aguilar Quesada.

MLA Putters

I am really pleased a excited to be named as the tour representative for MLA putters from Sweden – they are a putter with a difference. An optical effect by a line on the putter helps you to aim correctly and thus help you to set up true to the target. Have a look at the web site for the putters i’ll be having with me by Wednesday www.mla-putters.com

Carl Siddall

great to meet up with Carl Siddall who is out here at the moment working on his game in preparation for Europro Q School. His first year back after a break and he is only 23. Good luck ‘lad’ and make sure you are ready.

NEW PUTTING STUDIO NOW OPEN

My new putting studio opened last Monday to a great reception. The first student was Jordan Gibb, recently successful on the Challenge tour. The new putting studio is more intimate and surrounded with technical equipment, video, mirrors and the all important Sam Putt Lab. Please come and visit me soon. I am now based on the fantastic resort of El Valle Golf Resort, Murcia, Spain.

We have a great article for you to read about the golfer Jordan Gibb, please CLICK HERE to read the full article.

CONGRATULATIONS TO JORDAN GIBB

Well done to Jordan Gibb who made a fantastic finishing round one under par at the Portuguese arm of the European tour Q school.  Jordan did this with damaged ligaments in his right arm which he suffered during the four round event!  Jordan will be in the hat for the second round of Tour school which is to be played in Spain the beginning of December 2012.  Your support is welcome and we will keep you updated where he will be playing.

well done to george woolgar

Well done to George Woolgar in the recent Europro tour  event at Mar Menor Golf Resort.  This was the final event of the season for up and coming players – the top five throughout the year get their Challenge tour card.  George played the last two rounds 12 under par to finish tied fourth.  Well done George, here is looking forward to the top five next year.

Update from the senior tour

‘Glenn is now working with two American Senior tour players Jeb Stuart (finished 8th At El Valle) and Joe Stansberry.  Good luck to both players in the UK this week on the European Senior Tour’

Congratulations to amber ratcliffe

Congratulations to Amber Ratcliffe for winning the Fairhaven trophy in the UK.  Amber has been a student of Glenn Billington for over twelve months and has shown fantastic development.  A name to look out for in the future’...

Amber Ratcliffe, Royal Cromer GC, won the girls championship in dramatic finish from her playing partner Elizabeth Stebbings, Wilpshire GC.

Teeing off on the 18th hole, a long par 5 with a strong wind blowing from left to right, Amber, one shot behind Elizabeth, hit two terrific shots onto the green and then holed a 8 yard eagle putt to secure victory by one shot. Her winning total of 315 was a great effort in what has been a very testing days golf in winds averaging over 20mph and gusting up to 40mph.

Congratulations

Congratulations to my student Kieron Fowler for winning the Spanish National under 18 Amateur Championship in Bilbao – well done to Kieron and his family.  He has worked very hard on his game and should be rewarded for this!  Fantastic!!’
