WELCOME TO PUTTING EXCELLENCEWho am I?
My life circumstances changed and at the age of 36 I started playing golf again, in a society and then the bug hit! After only a few months i had a handicap of five and as I practiced and my putting got better and I lowered it to 0.6. My day was one that allowed me to retire early and i wanted something that would keep me active and involved in golf. Practice and then the ideas of becoming a golf coach were achievable. Support was the key, thanks to my darling wife Yvonne. What I do?
I achieved level two of the Swash Putting accreditation and then my learning allowed me to experiment and work with some great players, those that had been there and done it – Phil Archer and Jose Manuel Lara and several others. Younger players followed and i noticed that my style of coaching is long term, not a short term fix, it has to be or the feel will not develop and the player would be thinking of technique all the time. Where am I? I am a resident of Spain, in the Murcia area, originally from the Birmingham area of the United Kingdom. I decided to move here as the weather is right, the golf courses and resorts are fantastic and the access to the rest of Europe if excellent. Who do I coach? I work with many younger players, aspiring players, amateurs and professionals, i feel that guiding them towards their goal is a desire I have. Every player can improve their game if they concentrate on improving their putting. A twenty eight handicap player can probably be five shots better? New players should work hard on their putting and then build up to the full swing, keep it simple and get the feel you need! My fundamentals and beliefs It is so important that the clubface impacts with the ball in a ‘square on’ position to the target! The putting stroke needs to be a repeatable action and i feel that this should be done in a natural and instinctive way. Therefore, the set up is the pivot of the putting stroke. If we are square to the target line and the geometry of our aim is correct then we will be able to make that perfect stroke and allow the ball to head towards the target on the correct line. All in all, the ‘set up’ is important to making a great putting stroke! How do we reach out intended long term development? So, please read on, see how i can help you become the putter you need to be to achieve success, the player who walks on the green knowing he has the ability and skill to sink any putt! |
